…but so much happened in that last two hours that I KNOW I’m going to forget to write most of what I want to say/squee about if I try to put it all in one post. So. I’m just going to keep blogging as things occur to me, and sorry in advance to my IRL followers.
…and also people who worry about spoilers I’ll read-more stuff for the next 24 hours at least?
.
Note: This is mostly just a reaction/squeeing post.

Apologies, I forgot two name-drops!
John Mellencamp is mentioned as a reference to Burt’s musical preferences. What’s important about Mellencamp, as we also get told in Laryngitis, is that he represents ordinary people and sings of their struggles.
Burt represents that kind of person, he’s just this guy. And that’s exactly why his character is so amazing: he supports Kurt in being gay, he’ll be a dad for Finn and a husband for Carole. He deals with things by frankly talking about them. He’s a nice person who treats everyone with the respect they deserve.
And he’s just an ordinary person.
Everyone can be Burt. You don’t need a big degree or a fancy job in New York or any of those things to get that people are people. All you need to do is to listen. That’s the strength of this character, he represents in this show what Mellencamp represents in music: an ordinary guy just struggling with his struggles. He does what seems right.Another important aspect of the reference is John Mellencamp’s liberal politics. He’s pro gay rights (he was super pissed when NoM tried to use Pink Houses for one of their campaigns.) which fits in with Burt’s capacity as an unexpected ally.
“Remember when I told you come at me with the crazy right off the bat my head goes all empty and I can’t really have a productive conversation?”
Reminded me of:
“I thought we agreed the ‘everything we did wrong this week’ list was hurting more than helpful.”
Finn and Quinn went to Miss Pillsbury back in Season One when their cool cred dropped, and Finn really liked the sunglasses idea. What if he goes back every one in a while, like when he’s having girlfriend troubles, and she helps him come up with ways to deal with communication problems?
[maybe that’s where he got the IPad]
I like the idea that Finn got the phrase “productive conversation” from Miss Pillsbury, though she would not be happy with him calling anyone, or anyone’s conversation topics/styles, “crazy”.
Both of these quotes are Finn trying to get Rachel to talk with him in a way that doesn’t upset him or make him check out of the conversation.
Actually…this really makes me re-think the comment he made ages ago (don’t remember which episode, don’t remember which season) about not paying attention much when Rachel talks.
Especially with the slow-motion moments we got with him in Season One, when the audio would get really distant.
[Also maybe Kurt got the idea to go to Miss Pillsbury from Finn, back when he and Blaine had issues in Dance With Somebody]

Utter perfection.
The only thing that Emma is on her way of learning, is how to not be insecure, how to be herself and how to respect herself. But there’s nothing about the…
<3
What your comment made me realise is the following:
This is a show about schools, and it has no teachers in the lead roles.
Zero.Roz, Beiste and Sue are coaches. Emma is a counsellor. Will stepped away from the idea of being a teacher rather than being a coach in The Spanish Teacher.
And that’s a huge thing: being a coach or being a teacher, they’re different. When teach, you tell people how it is. When you coach, you guide people in learning how it is.
With teaching it’s… You get told how it is. Whether it’s a language or how the world works, you’re told how it is and that’s final and it’s the only correct way you can give your answer on your test.
With coaching, that’s not the case at all. You get to discover how things are, and your coach guides you in this. It’s the difference between knowing and understanding something.
And that … Is exactly why Glee works the way it works. Most of the things on this show are presented in a way that have the viewer make up their own mind about it.
Like for example Unique, who is shown to be a badass performer once she gets to wear her shoes and dress. Who is shown to be amazing when she’s herself. People criticised it wasn’t explicit enough in Kurt and Mercedes being wrong but…
It just shows, it doesn’t tell you what to think. And yes, there are moments that are preachy: but they tend to not go over well. Most of the preachy moments are Will’s. Who is also pretty often wrong when he gives his speeches. (The Cancer Ward in comeback, for example)
Then there’s, for example, Kurt, who said things out loud and then didn’t become the Senior Class-President.Characters often aren’t allowed their defence, they don’t get to say someone is wrong. They have to prove it, and make the characters surrounding them understand.
But when a character gets it, they’ll truly get it. Unlike when a character thinks they know what someone else is going through. For example, Roz chewing out the girls in Choke has no effect on their understanding of Domestic Violence until they realise it’s real.
But at the same time, Roz also doesn’t get it. Because when Beiste confesses, she doesn’t understand the emotional weight it has on Beiste at all.And of course, there’s the case of Joe Hart, who has said:
“To me being a Christian isn’t about talk. It’s about actions.”

So this moment was hilarious, but it also made me think about gay bars as safe spaces, and wonder how much of this guy’s letting them in was “I don’t give a shit about the fact that they look 12” and how much was “these are kids who need somewhere they can just be.” Especially with Karofsky’s comments when he’s talking to Kurt.
I thought that’s what we were supposed to assume?
Those IDs were awful.

in ten years when our generation is the one popping out babies left right and center i’ll bet you anything all of the popular names will just be ship names and you’ll get a class full of kids called drarry or johnlock or gabilliam and all of the parents will look at each other in the playground and judge each other for their lack of taste.
“ugh, you named your kid Finchel?”
“what of it?”
“Faberry get over here we are leaving this instant!”
